Joint statement: Krystal Browitt

La Trobe University and Melbourne Polytechnic joint statement.

New Zealand Police have today confirmed that Krystal Browitt, a student enrolled in a La Trobe University degree program run via Melbourne Polytechnic, has died in the volcanic eruption on White Island, New Zealand. Members of Krystal's family are also reported to have been injured in this disaster.

The entire La Trobe University and Melbourne Polytechnic communities are shocked and saddened by this terrible news. Our thoughts are with her immediate family, and we also extend our heartfelt condolences to all of Krystal's family and friends at this very difficult time.

All students and staff who may be affected by the tragic incident are encouraged to use the range of wellbeing services, including counselling, offered at both La Trobe University and at Melbourne Polytechnic.
