Karratha Detectives have upgraded the charge against an 18-year-old man in relation to an incident that occurred in Bulgarra on Sunday 5 March 2023.
It will be alleged, about 6am the 18-year-old man attended a home on Withnell Way and seriously assaulted a 24-year-old man.
The 24-year-old man received severe lacerations to the head and upper body and was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.
The 18-year-old man, who was previously charged with Grievous Bodily Harm, has now been charged with one count of Attempt to Unlawfully Kill.
He will next appear before the Karratha Magistrates Court on 21 March 2023.
Investigations remain ongoing and detectives are continuing to search for the weapon used in this incident, which is believed to be a machete or similar.
