New residential and commercial land for Katherine is one step closer with the award of a $16.35 million package to deliver headworks for a new Mixed Use Subdivision in Katherine East.

BMD Urban has been awarded this recent tender, supporting 25 jobs.

This package is part of the Supporting Growth in Katherine East Project, jointly funded by the Australian and Northern Territory governments. The initiative is supporting regional growth and enabling future development outside of a Q100 flood zone.

This package will see serviced superlot parcels for ongoing residential, commercial and community purposes. The work includes earthworks, roadworks, stormwater, sewer and electrical works to enable future commercial and community purpose subdivision and building works.

The Territory Government is also duplicating a 1.3 kilometre stretch of the Stuart Highway at Katherine East.

The duplication extends 200 metres before Cyprus Street and will extend 300 metres after Uralla Road, and includes safety and realignment upgrades to the Uralla Road intersection and Cyprus Street intersection.

The duplication works are now past the halfway mark and will deliver improved road safety conditions for all Territorians as well as supporting the creation of development parcels as part of the Supporting Growth in Katherine East Project.

BMD Urban is delivering the works with the road upgrades expected to be complete by May 2023 and the headworks anticipated to be complete by late 2023.
