Kidnapping charges, Burpengary East

A man has been charged with multiple offences over an alleged kidnapping from the Burpengary East area last weekend.

At approximately 1pm on July 15, it is alleged the 31-year-old man attended the address of a woman known to him and threatened her with a handgun before forcing her into her car.

The pair travelled south along the M1 in a grey Hyundai i30 with the Queensland registration 850WOY before stopping in traffic at Tallebudgera at approximately 2.30pm.

The woman has fled the vehicle and approached a nearby New South Wales Ambulance and asked for help. Paramedics transported her to Elanora Police Beat.

It is alleged the man then drove back to the Burpengary East address before leaving on foot.

The woman suffered bruising to her face during the incident.

The man was arrested in Bargara on July 19 and has been charged with 10 offences including kidnapping, assault occasioning bodily harm, unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He appeared before Bundaberg Magistrates Court on July 20 where he was remanded in custody to reappear on September 27.

Investigations are ongoing, with police calling on any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the grey Hyundai i30 to come forward.
