The Finocchiaro CLP Government is delivering on its election commitment to restore our unique Territory lifestyle and deliver water security to Territorians, launching a new education campaign to help rural landowners protect and maintain their bores.
The 'Know your Bore' campaign will provide practical resources, targeted information, and expert advice to help rural water users across the Territory understand how to monitor, maintain, and manage their private bores, ensuring the sustainability of our environment and rural lifestyle.
Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment and Water Resources, Joshua Burgoyne said the new campaign will give residents the tools and knowledge to secure their water supply for generations to come.
"From running a household to running a herd, access to water underpins everything in rural life. As part of our year of action, certainty and security, we are ensuring we protect it," he said.
"We're helping rural communities learn how to care for their bores, so they waste less water, keep it safe to use, and make their bores last longer.
"We committed to restoring the Territory lifestyle and recognising the critical role of secure, sustainable water in supporting rural communities, agriculture, and everyday Territory life is an important step in delivering on that promise."
The campaign will be delivered through a range of strategies that support the broader goals outlined in the Territory Water Plan here.
