Koondoola bushfire - Strike Force Vulcan investigation

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating a bushfire that started in the Koondoola Open Space on Wednesday, 1 December 2021.

Around 12.35pm, Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called after members of the public spotted smoke coming from bushland near the intersection of Alexander Drive and Beach Road.

The fire burnt a significant amount of bushland and posed a serious risk to surrounding homes and nearby businesses.

The cause of the fire is being treat as suspicious and Strike Force Vulcan officer wish to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or activity in the area of the fire between 12.15pm and 1pm. Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
