Kununurra Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a child in Kununurra this morning, Sunday 23 February 2020.
About 7:00am Police and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to a residence in Ironwood Drive in relation to a vehicle being on fire. The fire was extinguished.
Tragically, a child was located deceased in the vehicle. The child has not been formally identified, however it is believed the child is a 2-year-old girl.
While the cause of the fire is still being established, based on initial information obtained at the scene the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time. Arson Squad detectives from Perth will attend the scene today to investigate the cause of the fire.
