Labor announces 30-day invoice payment plan

National Road Transport Association

Federal Deputy Opposition Leader Richard Marles has outlined a plan that will require small business invoices to be paid within 30 days if Labor wins the Federal election.

Labor has also flagged plans to cut transaction costs via so-called "least cost routing", saying that this could save businesses as much as $804 million a year in merchant fees.

NatRoad has been calling for 30-day payments for decades, so this is a welcome announcement.

Once the election is over, we will continue our pursuit of unfair contracting changes which made it into the Parliament only to stall due to lack of time.
