Labor reconciles with Greens

Guy Barnett,Minister for Primary Industries and Water

Labor's weekend divorce from the Greens hasn't even lasted a week.

Instead of backing today's Parliamentary motion of support for the forest industry, Rebecca White and her Labor colleagues joined forces with the Greens to vote together for a return to the job-destroying lock-ups of their infamous anti-forestry deal.

Their joint commitment today to lock up another 356,000 hectares was set aside by Parliament as a Wood Bank for resource security will undermine jobs, particularly in regional Tasmania.

The price last time was the loss of two out of every three jobs in the industry.

Actions speak louder than words and Labor has a well-documented history of saying one thing and doing another.

It just goes to show that Labor cannot be trusted.
