Victorians are at risk of not having gifts to put under the Christmas tree due to driver shortages, COVID isolation requirements and industrial action.
But the Andrews Government remains silent as the supply chain faces a perfect storm.
The Victorian Transport Association says Victorians need to prepare themselves for shortages of goods in the short and medium term because of "massive" supply chain disruptions.
The Andrews Government must step in to make a difference, with testing requirements, vaccine mandates and industrial action the biggest factors at play.
The Liberal Nationals have called for rapid testing to be rolled out across the sector to help solve some of the issues around COVID testing and for a national approach to interstate border requirements.
We have also called on the Minister for Ports and Freight Melissa Horne and the Industrial Relations Minister Tim Pallas to step up and say "enough is enough" to their mates in the unions who are putting the most strain on the system.
While the Liberal Nationals have been calling for proactive measures to deal with this crisis, the Andrews Government has been silent and it's Victorians who will suffer.
As stated by Shadow Minister for Ports and Freight, Roma Britnell:
"Rapid testing for drivers and supply chain workers could help solve some of the issues facing the freight sector but the Andrews Government has been silent.
"It has also been silent on the disruptive industrial action being planned by their union mates which is going to double the time it takes to unload a ship and cause a huge backlog.
"Where is the Minister for Ports and Freight? Why isn't she engaging with the sector? Why isn't she advocating for rapid testing and why isn't she telling the unions their actions are completely inappropriate while Victorians pull together to get through yet another lockdown?
"Victorians will be forced to go without the goods they need because of the inaction of the Andrews Labor Government when it comes to supporting the supply chain."
