Lake Macquarie, Entrance Set for Housing Boost

Together, these projects could deliver 420 new homes - including affordable housing:

Property Council Hunter and Central Coast Regional Director Nuatali Nelmes said the HDA had made great progress backing local projects since it commenced in January this year.

"Today's declarations are a clear signal that the momentum behind housing delivery is continuing to build across the Hunter and Central Coast," Ms Nelmes said.

"It's a positive step, but we can't take our foot off the accelerator. We need sustained effort to move projects from approval to construction and make sure the roads, schools and services keep pace with the homes being built.

"With housing affordability and rental pressure still biting hard, every project that advances means more choice for local families and essential workers," she said.

Since the formation of the HDA in January, 12 Expression of Interest (EOIs) have been considered from the Central Coast with 6 declared with the potential to deliver 1,449 new homes. In the Hunter, 23 EOIs have been considered, with 11 declared with the potential for 2,682 new homes.

The Property Council said continued support for the HDA and the use of State significant pathways would be critical to meeting the Hunter and Central Coast's share - more than 10 per cent (39,800) – of NSW's ambitious 377,000 new homes by 2029 housing target.

The Property Council is putting the spotlight on housing delivery solutions at its upcoming Housing Solutions for the Hunter: From Policy to Delivery event on 31 October, bringing together leaders from government, Housing Australia, community housing providers and industry.

The event will explore how initiatives such as the Housing Australia Future Fund, build-to-rent investment, and modern construction methods can help unlock the next wave of housing supply across the Hunter and Central Coast.
