The Central Goldfields community is being asked to provide feedback on a plan that, once finalised, will guide the management of the Phillips Gardens in Maryborough for the next ten years.

Feedback on the Phillips Gardens Landscape Plan is live now at www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/phillipsgardens with feedback open until 5pm, Friday 29 October. For those not online, feedback can also be provided by phone.

Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Ward Councillor Geoff Lovett said the Phillips Gardens is a much-loved community asset that is popular with both locals and tourists.

"We're keen to understand how our community use the Gardens, what they love about the Gardens and what they'd like to see there in the future.

"Improvements might include paths, fencing, pathway edging, seating and plant selection – whatever it might be it's essential that any plans for the future of the Gardens be carefully considered.

"It's so important for our community to share their feedback with us, as the Landscape Plan will outline the direction and any future upgrades to the precinct over the next ten years."

The Phillips Gardens has a Heritage Overlay and so, as part of the development of the Landscape Plan, areas of heritage significance within the Gardens will be identified and valued.

A Landscape Plan is required to guide how Council manage and care for the gardens and allows Council to apply for government funding for improvements to the Gardens.
