A man has been charged with 12 firearms and drugs offences after a machine gun, drugs and 3D-printed firearms parts were seized at a Lara property yesterday.
Following a thorough and ongoing investigation into the alleged manufacturing of illicit firearms, detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad and the Geelong Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a Lara residence on 18 March.
Detectives arrested a 47-year-old man allegedly manufacturing and storing firearms at the residence.
During the search, officers seized items including:
- a machine gun with ammunition
- a silencer
- a 3D printed handgun
- a replica handgun
- a 3d printer
- drugs of dependence
The man has been charged with firearms offences including possession of a traffickable quantity of firearms, prohibited person possess a silencer, prohibited person possess imitation firearm, possess equipment for manufacture Firearms and possess ammunition without licence.
He was also charged with drugs offences.
The 47-year-old is remanded to appear before the Geelong Magistrates' Court today.
