Large Quantity Of Drugs Seized At Logan

Logan police have charged two people following the seizure of a significant quantity of dangerous drugs as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the Logan District.

On April 11, police identified a man of interest staying at short-stay accommodation on Edmondstone Street in South Brisbane.

Around 11.30pm, officers observed the man exiting a unit and walking onto the street. As police attempted to arrest him, he allegedly ran a short distance before being taken into custody.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the unit, where a woman was located and arrested.

During a search of the premises, police allegedly located and seized approximately 6.5 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 1.6 kilograms of cocaine, 8 litres of GBL along with a large quantity of Australian currency and various drug paraphernalia and encrypted mobile phones.

A 39-year-old Daisy Hill man has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 4, and one count each of possessing relevant substances or things, possessing dangerous drugs, offence to buy or possess S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act, possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, possessing anything used in the commission of crime defined in Part 2 and obstruct Police Officer.

A 35-year-old Greenslopes woman has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 4, and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing relevant substances or things, offence to buy or possess S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence

Both are due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 12.

Acting Detective Inspector Daniel Cunningham said the arrests were the result of a focused operation targeting the supply of dangerous drugs into the Logan community.

"This is a significant seizure that demonstrates our commitment to disrupting the distribution of dangerous drugs and protecting the community from the harm they cause," Acting Detective Inspector Cunningham said.

"Our Tactical Crime Squad officers are relentless in their pursuit of those who seek to profit from the misery of drug use.

This operation sends a strong message - if you traffic dangerous drugs, expect a visit from police."
