LaSells Stewart Center Temporarily Closing for Summer Renovations

The LaSells Stewart Center on Oregon State University's Corvallis campus will be closed from June 19 to mid-October to accommodate an $8.8 million renovation project that includes replacing the roof and heating and cooling system

The Giustina Gallery in the center will be closed during this time.

The project will create a more energy-efficient building, with increased insulation, new ceiling tiles in the lobby and meeting rooms and updated lighting. There are no plans to expand the building.

Limited demolition has already begun, but the bulk of the project will take place over the summer. The project replaces the original 1981 heating and cooling system and roof, which was last replaced in 2001.

Work also includes the extension of brick parapet (rooftop) walls, the addition of roof guardrails for worker safety and the replacement of exterior wood mechanical screen walls with metal ones.

The project is being paid for mainly by state capital renewal funds, which is funding from state bonds used to address deferred maintenance and improve infrastructure and facilities on the Corvallis campus.

Concert, lectures and events are already being booked starting next season. A current list of fall events can be found here: https://lasells.oregonstate.edu/events
