Learner driver charged with high range PCA - Southern Highlands

An unaccompanied learner has been charged with drink-driving after visiting a fast food outlet in the Southern Highlands earlier today.

About 4.20am (Tuesday 12 May 2020), police were called to a fast food outlet in Moss Vale, following reports a man was allegedly continuously driving through the drive-through and appeared to be affected by alcohol. He also performed a burn out in the car park.

Officers from The Hume Police District attended and spoke to the man, before he was subjected to a breath test.

The man allegedly recorded a reading of 0.210; a learner-driver must have a zero-blood alcohol level.

The 46-year-old Wollongong man was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station, where he was charged with high-range PCA. His learner's licence was suspended on the spot.

The man was given bail and is due to face Moss Vale Local Court on 21 July 2020.
