The Leeton Shire Youth Council has kicked off 2025 with new faces around the table, including three students from St Francis College, two from Leeton High School, and five from Yanco Agricultural High School.
The first two meetings focused on getting to know each other, discussions about the upcoming Youth Week 2025 workshops in April, and brainstorming other potential events and initiatives for the year that the Youth Council may participate in.
Portfolio Lead for Youth & Children, Cr Sandra Nardi, said it's been a great experience working with the new group of Youth Councillors.
"It's inspiring to see such a diverse and enthusiastic group of young individuals coming together. The new Youth Councillors are not only learning about our community and its needs but are also actively engaging with each other, sharing ideas, and working collaboratively. Their energy and fresh perspectives are exactly what we need to drive positive change and innovation in our Shire," she said.
The Youth Council has been established in an effort to provide advice to Leeton Shire Council and develop young leaders in an inclusive space where all views are respected as well as building awareness of local councils and constructive engagement as citizens.
The Leeton Shire Youth Council will meet six times in 2025, with the next meeting scheduled for Monday, 2 June 2025.
