Lia finocchiaro needs to explain alledged links to white supremacy group

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is calling upon the Leader of the Opposition to explain her and the CLPs links to an alleged white supremacy sympathiser.

It comes after photos surfaced of the Opposition Leader and other CLP members posing with the individual during the Fannie Bay by-election campaign. It is also alleged this individual attended their by-election party wearing white supremacy supporter attire.

There is no excuse for supporting racism and the CLP have allowed these people and their extreme views into their party.

What is worse is that the Leader of the Opposition refuses to stand up and explain to Territorians why she thinks it's okay for her party to support these people and their racist views.

The CLP must immediately:

1. Reject the PROUD BOYS and everything they stand for

2. Review their members and their possible allegiances to white supremacists

3. Terminate any membership associated with the PROUD BOYS and other white supremacy groups

4. Ban all white supremacy signals and memorabilia at party functions

5. Have the CLP membership agree to undertake cultural training to understand what white supremacy is and its dangers.

There is no place in the Territory for these racist groups.

Quotes from the Member for Gwoja, Chansey Paech:

"In the Territory we do not tolerate racist views which bring harm onto others.

"The Leader of the Opposition has had numerous chances to denounce the PROUD BOYS and the CLP for allowing these people and their extreme views into their party - yet she refuses to do so. This group is a declared terrorist organisation in Canada and New Zealand.

"Her blatant disregard of the seriousness of these extreme groups and their alleged links to the CLP is concerning - Territorians deserve answers, and deserve to know what the CLP stand for.

"There's nothing proud about being a PROUD BOY."
