City of Darwin is offering a free workshop for people thinking about adding a furry friend to their family, or who are just keen to better understand their current canine companion. The Life with Dogs workshop is a free, practical workshop designed to support responsible pet ownership and enhance the wellbeing of dogs in our community.
Delivered in partnership with local experts from Pawsitive K9 Behaviour, this informative session will explore how to choose the right breed for your lifestyle, settle a new pup into your home, and adapt to your dog's evolving needs over time.
The free community workshop will take place at the Lyons Community Centre, 25 Damabila Drive, Lyons on Tuesday 5 August 2025 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
City of Darwin CEO, Simone Saunders, said the workshop series aims to improve dog behaviour, safety and wellbeing across Darwin suburbs.
"These free animal behaviour workshops help owners better understand their dog's communication styles, while also promoting safe and responsible pet ownership in our community," Ms Saunders said.
"Life with Dogs is perfect for those considering pet adoption or who simply want to build a stronger, more informed relationship with their pet."
The Life with Dogs workshop is part of a wider series focused on common dog behaviour concerns, including aggression, barking, and noise phobias. Workshops are free, but bookings are essential.
