Little Malop Street will close to most vehicles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 10:00pm to 5:00am between Gheringhap Street and Moorabool Street to enable emergency access.
Currently, when too many vehicles enter Little Malop Street at Gheringhap Street, extensive delays occur, blocking the passage of emergency vehicles.
When an emergency response is required, seconds can make a critical difference, which is why other vehicles are being encouraged to use the pick up zones on the wider Malop and Ryrie Streets.
Little Malop Street will be restricted to emergency services and permit holders during this time, with permits issued to businesses and tenants in the area who have an off-street car space.
The new restrictions will take effect from Monday 1 December 2025.
People looking to be picked up from the Little Malop Street precinct are encouraged to use the range of nearby transport options, including the pick-up zones on Malop or Ryrie Street or the taxi zone on Moorabool Street.
