Work has commenced on improving Kipper Creek Road, Biarra as part of early works for Toowoomba Regional Council's (TRC) Cressbrook Dam Safety Improvement Project (CDSIP).
Kipper Creek Road is one of three key roads identified as vital for transporting equipment and materials to the dam as part of the CDSIP.
Deputy Mayor and spokesperson for the Strategic Water Planning and Capital Delivery portfolio Councillor Rebecca Vonhoff said the package of work to improve the road ahead of main CDSIP construction commencing, has been awarded to Toowoomba local supplier Joe Wagner Group.
"Improving Kipper Creek Road will ensure the road can safely accommodate heavy vehicle movements.
"The section of Kipper Creek Road, from Esk-Crows Nest Road to the single-lane bridge, will be sealed, not only improving accessibility, safety and efficiency but reducing dust for local residents," Cr Vonhoff said.
TRC has been collaborating with Somerset Regional Council regarding the improvement work on Kipper Creek Road.
"Contractors will be on site Monday to Friday from 7.30am - 5.30pm.
"During the work we're encouraging road users to drive to the signed conditions and allow for possible delays of up to 10 minutes.
"Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, weather and construction conditions permitting," Cr Vonhoff said.
Next year, work will commence on improving Cressbrook Creek Road and Wivenhoe Pipeline Access Road, these projects will be ongoing until the start of main construction.
