Kiama experienced intense storms over the weekend and heavy rainfall is forecast again today and tomorrow (Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 March).

Council is aware of and working on the following issues on local, Council-managed roads:

  • Swamp Rd near Jamberoo remains flooded and is closed to traffic
  • Jamberoo Rd at Dido Street is flooded and closed to traffic
  • Water over the road in places such as Riverside Drive, Bombo off ramp north of the Cemetery, Manning Street and others
  • Issues in properties along Manning Street and Hillview Cres as well as localised flooding on many local roads
  • A landslip on Wallaby Hill road is being assessed
  • Foxground Rd is closed with a fallen tree across the road - our crews are working to clear it
  • Free Selectors Rd east causeway is closed due to flooding up to 1 metre of water, please do not enter floodwaters

Council crews are patrolling roads to assess any damage caused by heavy rain and flooding and removing debris and blockages.

Council is aware of landslips on the Princes Highway at the Kiama / Gerringong bends northbound, which has one lane open. Transport for NSW, who manage this road, are working to resolve it. Check Live Traffic NSW for updates.

Another landslip in a railway line cutting near Bombo Station is also being managed by Transport for NSW.

All local beaches and rock pools remain closed due to dangerous conditions and poor water quality.

Council lifeguards have repeated their warning for people to remain clear of beaches and low-lying coastal areas, with current conditions expected to continue into next week.

Council will assess damage to beaches and rock pools once conditions are safe enough to do so.
