Logan City Council's efforts in sustainable sewage management have been showcased to 40 of Queensland's leading water industry professionals.
A tour of the under-construction state-of-the-art Cedar Grove Environmental Centre, which is set to become one of Australia's most environmentally sustainable wastewater treatment plants, was included as part of the City of Logan hosting the qldwater Annual Forum.
Logan City Council Acting Roads and Water Infrastructure Director, Daryl Ross, said the forum was an ideal opportunity to showcase the innovative work Council was doing in wastewater treatment.
"The future Cedar Grove Environmental Centre will set a new benchmark in providing an efficient sewage treatment service that will also enrich its surrounding natural environment," he said.
"It will be one of Queensland's most environmentally sustainable wastewater treatment plants, operating under the strictest environmental license ever granted by the Department of Environment and Science."
qldwater Chief Executive Officer Dave Cameron said the forum brings together water and sewerage service providers, other industry representatives and government departments to look at ways of dealing with future urban water challenges in a constrained funding environment.
"It is a chance for representatives from a wide array of councils, especially those from smaller and remote areas, to connect with the bigger South-East Queensland councils," he said.
