Griffith Regional Art Gallery presents PASSEGGIATA, a solo exhibition by local artist Lorella Bastianon, opening at Artspace, Griffith Regional Theatre, on Friday, 31 July at 6pm.
The exhibition will remain on display until Friday, 11 September, offering visitors the opportunity to experience a collection of expressive abstract paintings inspired by memory, emotion and lived experience.
Derived from the Italian tradition of a leisurely stroll taken for pleasure and reflection, PASSEGGIATA invites audiences to slow down, wander through the works, and discover their own connections within each piece. The exhibition brings together a body of abstract paintings developed over an extended period of the artist's life, with each work representing a moment along an evolving creative journey.
Working intuitively with layers of acrylic, oil and oil stick, Bastianon creates paintings without a predetermined image in mind. Texture, colour and gesture emerge organically, forming visual conversations that evoke atmosphere, memory and feeling. The resulting works encourage viewers to pause, reflect and interpret their own meanings within the layered compositions.
"Together, these works reveal the passage of time through moments, memories and experiences that continue to resonate long after they have passed," said Bastianon. "Like a passeggiata, the exhibition is an invitation to wander, reflect and embrace new discoveries."
Artspace is an annual exhibition program located within the Griffith Regional Theatre, showcasing local artists and fostering meaningful connections between artists and the community.
PASSEGGIATA will be on display at ARTSPACE at the Griffith Regional Theatre from Friday, 31 July until Friday 11 September.
