Police Charge Man After Pursuit - Emerton

A man has been charged following an alleged pursuit in Sydney's west overnight.

About 12.15am today (Monday 2 November 2026), police conducting crowd and traffic control at Popondetta Road, Emerton, observed a Ford Ranger crash into a metal fence.

Traffic and Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated on Heine Ave, Emerton.

The vehicle continued along Heine Avenue before turning multiple times and clipping a Ford Territory at the intersection of Luxford Road and Elsworth Drive, Tregear, causing the Ranger to flip onto its side.

The driver of the Ranger, a 41-year-old man, was trapped for a short time before being assisted from the vehicle by police.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition under police guard.

The driver and passengers of the Territory, two women and a child, were not injured.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.

Following inquiries, the 41-year-old man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for police pursuit.

He is due to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court on Monday 18 January 2027.
