Bayside Council adopted the Rockdale Centre Masterplan at a Council Meeting on Wednesday 28 October 2026.
The Masterplan provides a framework for the long-term growth and renewal of Rockdale Centre, strengthening its role as the civic heart of Bayside through improved public spaces and connectivity, expanded open space, economic development and coordinated infrastructure delivery.
Developed through extensive planning, technical investigations and community consultation, the Draft Masterplan was publicly exhibited between 20 April and 9 June 2026, attracting 290 submissions and survey responses from residents, businesses, landowners, government agencies and other stakeholders.
In response to community feedback refinements have been made to transport initiatives and active transport connentions.
Feedback also raised concerns about traffic, parking, infrastructure delivery and building scale, leading to refinements to transport initiatives, active transport connections and implementation actions.
Feedback from Transport for NSW and Sydney Water also informed the final document.
The adopted Masterplan will guide future planning, investment and advocacy to help create a more connected, vibrant and liveable Rockdale Centre.
Bayside Mayor Dr Christina Curry said:
"Rockdale Centre is entering a period of significant change, giving us a unique opportunity to enhance the civic, economic and social heart of Bayside," Mayor Christina Curry said.
"This Masterplan provides a clear vision for the future of one of Bayside's most important centres, supported by a practical, long-term framework to guide growth while improving public spaces, connectivity, community infrastructure and the overall quality of the Centre."
