Love Your Library This February

The librarian is showing her a book.On February 14, while some are out sharing roses and chocolates, public libraries all over world celebrate the valuable role that libraries play in their lives for Library Lovers Day. In 2026, Hawkesbury Library Service is spreading love through a week-long series of events that are full of heart.

From Thursday 12 - Thursday 19 February, Hawkesbury Central Library will host a pop-up Library Lovers Week Book Sale. Book Lovers can find a range of fiction and non-fiction books and DVDs with highlight on romance. All items will be at affordable price points, making a wonderful opportunity to show your shelves some love and purchase some new books.

On Friday 13 February, 10.30am-12.30pm, fan favourite Susannah Fullerton returns to Central Library for an author talk on her latest book, Great Writers and the Cats Who Owned Them, celebrating the unexpected yet powerful influence of cats on some of history's most renowned writers. This event offers a unique blend of literary history, biography and feline fascination, ideal for readers who enjoy discovering the stories behind great storytelling. Following Fullerton's popular talk at the Library in December last year, this talk is guaranteed to bring a crowd.

The celebrations round up on Thursday 19 February with an exclusive Live Stream event from the State Library as part of Sydney Writer's Festival. Hawkesbury Central Library will be a partner venue for the Festival's sold out Mardi Gras Debate: Heterosexuality is a Cult. Led by everyone's favourite adjudicator, Yumi Stynes, this lively discussion brings together six writers for a witty and persuasive battle to determine, once and for all, is heterosexuality a cult? Featuring Dylin Hardcastle, Jess Hill, Benjamin Law, Maeve Marsden, Jess McGuire and Daniel Nour. This event will run from 6.7.15pm and will be full of laughs, and a fun, casual way for the community to celebrate Mardi Gras close to home.

Libraries offer so much more than books, including life-long learning opportunities for all ages, special events like author talks and workshops, eBooks and Audiobooks, family history resources, free Wi-Fi, plus some wonderful spaces to read or study.

Library Lovers' Day is a fun way of celebrating our local Library services, so wherever you are, on February 14, love your library.
