Lumary City-Bay is back for 2023... on Sunday 17 September

Call going out for regional area entries

SA's biggest mass participation and fundraising opportunity event, the annual Lumary City-Bay Fun Run from Adelaide to Glenelg, is back, on Sunday 17 September for its 49th year.

Within the event there will be 12km, 6km and 3km fun run and walk events, and the 21.1km half marathon introduced in 2018. Today we announce our theme for 2023 that represent the aims of our SA sponsor, Lumary: 'Choose Your Race, Set Your Pace, Make It Count!'.

While there are always serious athletes and elite runners from all over Australia, overwhelmingly the majority are there for the fun, dressed up supporting charities, local groups and businesses.

A Car Lottery: One lucky Entrant will win a Toyota Yaris car!

The first valid entry drawn will win the single prize which is a Toyota Yaris Ascent Sport (Auto) valued at $28,165 driveaway, supplied by CMI Toyota. To enter, participants must complete an online entry located at www.city-bay.org.au and enter the Lumary City-Bay Fun Run competition. *

Taking multiple roles in this year's event is Lumary's Local Hero Ambassador, swimming 'Superfish' Paralympics star, Isabella 'Izzy' Vincent a strong supporter of the Lumary City-Bay who participated last year, raising funds for various causes. In addition to wheeling the 12km course this year, Izzy will be firing the starting gun for the thousands of participants. By raising funds during the Lumary City-Bay, Izzy hopes to empower young individuals with disabilities to embrace their passion for sports.

This year will be special as Isabella will be raising awareness for her own initiative called SWiPS (Sports Wheelchairs in Primary Schools) to provide smaller and lighter performance wheelchairs to primary schools across SA. Despite being born with a condition called sacral agenesis, Izzy has proven to be an exceptional athlete and an inspiration to many. She was selected as the youngest member and medalist of the 2021 Australian Paralympic team, showcasing her remarkable talent in the pool. Izzy also represented Australia at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

"As Lumary's brand ambassador, Isabella embodies the values of perseverance, determination, and inclusivity. Lumary is proud to support Izzy in her philanthropic efforts and believe in the power of sports to bring about positive change in our community. Izzy's participation will inspire individuals of all abilities to come together to champion inclusivity in sports," said Lumary CEO Joseph Mercorella.
