Lunar New Year 2026: Bayside

Thousands are set to attend Bayside Council's, family-friendly Lunar New Year festival at Wolli Creek on Friday 27 February.

The exciting festival will usher in the Year of the Horse with vibrant cultural displays, traditional performances, lion dances and martial arts demonstrations. The Year of the Horse - a symbol of energy, strength, resilience and freedom - inspires confidence, courage and new beginnings.

The event, held in partnership with Aussie NightMarkets, will also include food trucks, market stalls and amusement rides.

Parking around Cahill Park is very limited. Cahill Park is a short walk from Wolli Creek train station and Council encourages the use of public transport.

Bayside Libraries will also be hosting a series of free cultural craft workshops during February as part of this year's Lunar New Year celebrations including - Japanese Greeting Envelope workshop, Chinese Paper Cutting workshop, Chinese Knotting workshop, Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese Scroll Painting workshop.

Mayor Edward McDougall said:
