Machetes And Drugs Located During Sunshine Intercept

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and seized a large amount of illicit drugs following a routine intercept in Sunshine this morning.

A speeding vehicle drew the attention of Brimbank Highway Patrol members on Ballarat Road about 1.40am.

While writing out a speeding fine, an eagle-eyed officer spotted the handle of a machete in the backseat and decided to further investigate.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle, soon undercovering four machetes, a large amount of cannabis and methamphetamines.

They also allegedly located a driver's licence stolen during an aggravated burglary in Braybrook about an hour earlier.

It's alleged four male youths forced their way into a Melon Street address, stealing the four occupants' phones and wallets about 12.30am.

None of the residents were physically injured.

The arrested man remains in custody, assisting investigators with their enquiries.

Police are still searching for the remaining three male offenders.
