Major drug charge at Gold Coast

Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad detectives have charged a man after he allegedly drove a truck containing a large quantity of cannabis from Melbourne.

It will be alleged at 12.45pm yesterday, police intercepted a Hino Pantech truck on K.P McGrath Drive at Eleanora.

Police searched the rear of the truck and allegedly located 136kg of cannabis in cryovac bags hidden behind palm trees in pots.

The driver, a 42-year-old Mutdapilly man, has been charged with one count of possession of dangerous drugs exceeding schedule three (cannabis).

He is due to appear before Southport Magistrates Court today, Saturday April 29.
