- 1,631 residential lots approved in Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area (PDA) to accommodate 4,500 residents.
- Brisbane's inner suburbs and growth corridors unlocked for 782 new homes.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering on its commitment to unlock housing supply with more than 2,400 lots for new homes approved in South East Queensland, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders sooner.
In the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area (PDA), 1,631 housing lots have been approved to accommodate 4,500 residents, in addition to essential infrastructure including a future State primary school, retail precincts and green spaces.
The green light has also been given to 782 new homes in Brisbane's inner suburbs of Indooroopilly and Milton.
Under the previous Labor Government, new housing approvals dropped 36 percent despite Queensland's significant population growth, which locked Queenslanders out of housing and forced almost 50,000 people onto Labor's social housing waitlist.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said the developments would provide more new homes in both established urban areas and emerging growth corridors.
"Queensland has the lowest home ownership rate in Australia thanks to Labor's Housing Crisis," the Deputy Premier said.
"Our Government is taking decisive action, unlocking more than 2,400 lots for new homes across South East Queensland.
"Construction in Flagstone – one of South East Queensland's fastest-growing regions – has already commenced, highlighting how the Crisafulli Government is getting on with delivering more housing to fix Labor's Housing Crisis.
"In Brisbane's inner-city suburbs, we're delivering affordable housing under build-to-rent models, reflecting our focus on delivering a mix of new housing options.
"Our plan to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders is designed to meet the varied needs of Queensland's growing population, from first-home buyers to families and those wanting to downsize.
"The LNP is unlocking land for new housing, building better communities, boosting home ownership, easing pressure on rents and helping vulnerable Queenslanders put a roof over their head."
Peet's Development Director for Flagstone, Troy Thompson, said the milestone was an important step in realising the vision for this vibrant new community.
"Flagstone is already home to 10,000 residents, growing by 40 new families every month," Mr Thompson said.
"This approval enables us to expand the range of housing and amenities available to future residents and ensure the ongoing development of 500 new homes in Flagstone each year.
"We're proud to build another new precinct that is committed to creating a thriving community where people want to live – for the Greater Flagstone PDA, this includes incorporating 330 hectares of green open space."
