Major Milestone Passed For AFL HPC

Tasmanian Government

It's welcome to hear the Kingborough Council approved the Tasmanian Devils Football Club High Performance Centre at its meeting last night.

Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said this marked a major milestone for the development.

"This development will provide the Tasmania Devils with world-class training, rehabilitation, and administrative facilities to support the club both on and off the field," Minister Duigan said.

"Importantly, this facility will also have community access."

The AFL High Performance Centre will include a full gymnasium with weights, cardio and open training spaces, an indoor training field with viewing and camera platforms, and specialist training rooms.

The development also includes dedicated facilities for the football department, including team rooms, match committee and analyst spaces, and an 80-seat lecture theatre.

Administrative areas will accommodate around 80 staff. Other amenities include a commercial kitchen, staff dining area, and multipurpose spaces, while public areas will feature a reception foyer, café, and club merchandise store.

"Our AFL and AFLW teams are creating a new industry in Tasmania, supporting our economy and attracting highly skilled people that will benefit the whole community," Minister Duigan said.

This approval means the project now moves to the construction tendering phase early in the new year.
