Major Redevelopment Completed For Westminster Schools

  • Westminster Primary School and Westminster Education Support Centre upgrades delivered
  • More than $15 million invested for the redevelopment of both schools
  • Part of the WA Labor Government's $4.4 billion education infrastructure investment

Education Minister Dr Tony Buti visited Westminster today to officially open the extensive redevelopment at Westminster Primary School and Westminster Education Support Centre.

The $15 million building project included the demolition of original areas of the schools and refurbishment of existing classrooms, along with the construction of new facilities.

Redesign of the whole campus was planned to meet the needs of students, teachers and the community. Buildings open onto grassed areas and a nature playground with interconnecting paths providing students with a safe and inclusive space to play and learn.

The new buildings at Westminster Primary School include teaching blocks, staff room, dental centre, administration building and parking, while students at Westminster Education Support Centre have new specialist education support classrooms with space to support therapy and education.

The redevelopment was designed by Site Architecture Studio and construction was completed by Crothers Construction Pty Ltd. Since 2017, the Labor Government has invested more than $4.4 billion into building and upgrading schools across Western Australia.

Comments attributed to Education Minister Dr Tony Buti:

"WA kids and their hard-working families should have access to high-quality education no matter their circumstances.

"The rebuild and redevelopment of Westminster Primary School and Westminster Education Support Centre will provide students with an ideal learning environment and outstanding educational opportunities. We are so happy to see this officially open."

As stated by Balcatta MLA David Michael:

"The Westminster schools have a proud history of serving local families and the major redevelopment will ensure this can continue for years to come.

"The scope of the massive transformation of these schools includes two new general teaching blocks, a dedicated early childhood area, new hard courts and soccer field, as well as two new playgrounds, and I am very pleased I could help deliver this for the Westminster community."
