A major $25 million infrastructure upgrade at Harrisdale Primary School is now officially open, with new facilities increasing the capacity of the school to accommodate 900 students.
Education Minister Sabine Winton today announced the major milestone - which started in 2023 - with new facilities boosting student capacity by an extra 470 students.
The expansion has equipped the school with a new kindergarten and pre-primary teaching block which includes an outdoor play space, as well as a two-storey teaching block with 14 extra classrooms and one science classroom.
New activity and collegiate areas, hardcourts, and additional parking were also part of the upgrade.
Completion of the project enables the removal of 19 transportable classrooms from the school site, providing space for students to learn and play outdoors. Oval remediation is in the final phase of works and is expected to be complete by early next year.
Buildings were designed by T&Z Architects with construction completed by Perkins WA Pty Ltd.
The Cook Government will continue to prioritise delivering quality infrastructure for Western Australian families.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
"I am proud to announce this infrastructure expansion at Harrisdale Primary School is now complete.
"Students and teachers should have access to comfortable and modern facilities to learn and work in.
"This major upgrade is a welcome benefit for primary school students' educational experience, supporting families who live in the Harrisdale local intake area.
"Expanding schools in growing suburbs is a Cook Labor Government priority to ensure Western Australian students can access quality education in well-equipped environments."
