Majors Bay Road Dining Precinct Set for Revamp

The City of Canada Bay is set to revitalise the Majors Bay Road dining precinct in Concord, with new outdoor dining shelters designed to support local businesses, enhance the visitor experience and strengthen the village's position as one of our area's most popular dining destinations.

Here in the City of Canada Bay, our local businesses are at the heart of our community - from neighbourhood hairdressers and artists to cleaners, bakers and baristas who help make our town centres vibrant places to visit and spend time.

That's why Council is continuing to invest in initiatives that support local businesses to grow, connect and thrive.

Supporting local businesses means investing in the places where they operate. As part of a multimillion dollar investment in Majors Bay Village, Council is planning upgrades to the outdoor dining shelters along Majors Bay Road in Concord.

City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said the project would enhance the village atmosphere while supporting local traders and hospitality venues.

"Majors Bay Road is one of our community's most bustling commercial strips, and Council is proud to invest in projects that support economic activity, improve our public spaces and contribute to the long-term vitality of our town centres," he said. "These upgrades will create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for residents and visitors, while helping local businesses attract customers and operate successfully throughout the year."

The new structures will revitalise the dining precinct, creating a more attractive and functional environment for diners, shoppers and business owners. They will include business signboards, along with lighting and heating to support year-round outdoor dining.

Designed to overlap with existing awnings, the shelters will provide continuous shade along the footpath, helping to increase foot traffic and strengthen Majors Bay Road as a popular community hub.

Construction is set to commence later this year.
