Man assaulted during carjacking in Berkeley

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted during a carjacking at Berkeley last night, NSW Police say.

About 7.15pm (Tuesday 2 October 2018), a 46-year-old man, driving a black Ford Falcon, was approached by two unknown men at the intersection of Barnes and Nannawilli Street.

The pair entered the vehicle, threatened the man and forced him to drive to a sports centre on Hooka Creek Road.

He was removed from the car and assaulted, before the men left the scene in the Ford Falcon.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District were contacted and an investigation commenced.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Wollongong Hospital.

The vehicle is described as being a black Ford Falcon G6E turbo with NSW registration AR2 910.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information or who sights the vehicle is urged to come forward.
