Man assaulted on McLeod-bound bus

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted on the 561 bus from the Pascoe Vale Railway Station on Saturday 15 December, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a 47-year-old man from Pascoe Vale was travelling on the bus towards McLeod about 6.30pm and during the journey engaged in a conversation with another man.

The conversation between the victim and the man became heated at which time the man punched the victim in the face and head numerous times causing facial injuries.

The offender fled the bus at the intersection of Sussex and Ohea streets in Coburg.

The offender is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, with short hair, a thick Irish accent and wearing a white hooded jumper, blue jeans and a moon boot on his right foot.

Investigators have released an image to identify a person of interest who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses that may have been present at the time of the assault.
