Officers from Southern Road Policing have charged a 31-year-old man after he was caught driving more than five times the legal alcohol limit at Cambridge last night.
Community members raised the alarm with police about 7.00pm, after the man was allegedly driving dangerously.
The man was detained by police about 7.24pm at Cambridge Park, and he subsequently returned a breath analysis reading of 0.267.
Sergeant Terry McCullough from Southern Road Policing said the man was charged with exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and was immediately disqualified from driving for two years and will attend court at a later date.
"This level of offending shows a blatant disregard for the safety of other road users and emergency responders."
"Police will continue to take strong action against those that put the public's safety at risk by targeting drink and drug driving."
