Man Charged After Serious Fitzroy North Collision

Melbourne Highway Patrol officers charged a Queensland man following a collision in Fitzroy North that left a cyclist with critical injuries yesterday.

It's alleged a Porsche struck a cyclist near the intersection of St Georges Road and Park Street about 4.15pm.

The cyclist, a 39-year-old Brunswick woman was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Three passengers in the car were not injured.

The driver of the Porsche, a 39-year-old man, has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, disobey red light and unlicensed driving.

He has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
