Man charged following pursuits in stolen vehicle in Dubbo

A man will appear in court today following a number of alleged pursuits in Dubbo yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 4.30pm today, police attempted to stop a white Holden Commodore travelling along Springfield Avenue, Dubbo, when it allegedly failed to stop.

A pursuit commenced; however was terminated a short time later. Police then located the vehicle abandoned on Troy Bridge Road, Dubbo. A search of the vehicle resulted in police locating housebreaking implements.

A short time later, police attempted to stop a vehicle in the ‘Apollo’ housing estate, after it was reported stolen.

A second pursuit was initiated when the vehicle failed to stop, and ended when the vehicle became bogged in grasslands on Dungary Road, Dubbo.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was arrested after allegedly assaulting the property owner where the car was located.

He was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital to be treated for a foot injury, and later taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with 11 offences including Skye’s Law, drive while disqualified, possess house breaking implements, malicious damage, common assault, possess prohibited drug and traffic offences.

The man was refused bail, to appear at Dubbo Local Court today tomorrow.
