Man Charged for Wollongong Break-Ins

Police have charged a man over a number of break and enters at businesses across the Illawarra.

In March 2026, officers attached to Wollongong Police District commenced an investigation after a number of break and enters in businesses, north of Wollongong.

Between Friday 13 March and Friday 20 March, eight business including cafes, restaurants were broken into, in the suburbs of Corrimal, Bulli, Wollongong, Fairy Meadow and Gwynneville.

A number of items were stolen including cash and passports.

Following extensive investigations officers – with the assistance of Southern Region Enforcement Squad – arrested a 27-year-old man at a unit complex on Church Street, Wollongong, at 6.10am today (Thursday 14 May 2026).

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with 17 offences including:

• Break and Enter house etc steal value <= $60,000 (11 counts)

• Break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent (steal) (two counts)

• Aggravated Break and Enter dwelling etc in company steal <=$60000 (two counts), and

• Deal with property proceeds of crime < $100000 & < $5000

The man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division – Court 3, tomorrow (Friday 15 May 2026).

Investigations are ongoing.
