Man charged over possession of child abuse material in Maroubra

A man will face court today charged over the alleged possession of child abuse material, NSW Police say.

About 9.30am yesterday today, a 47-year-old man attended Maroubra Police Station on an unrelated matter.

While at the police station the man was found to be in possession of a mobile phone that police had cause to seize.

The man left the police station while officers examined the phone and its content.

It will be alleged numerous websites and child abuse material was located on the phone.

About 4pm today, police attended a home on Anzac Parade, Malabar, and arrested the 47-year-old man.

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with possess child abuse material (x2).

He was refused bail and will appear in Waverly Local Court today tomorrow.
