Man charged over sexual assault in Liverpool

A man has been charged following extensive police inquiries into the alleged sexual assault of a woman at Liverpool earlier this month, NSW Police say.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday 11 November 2018, when a 51-year-old woman was walking along a track in Lighthorse Park, Liverpool.

Police will allege the woman observed a man nearby watching her, before he approached her, punched her several times in the face, and sexually assaulted her.

The woman began screaming, alerting people nearby, who chased the offender for some time before losing sight of him.

She was taken to Liverpool Hospital with facial injuries including lacerations, bruising, and damage to her teeth.

Following police inquiries, officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended an address on Gallop Street at Warwick Farm, where they arrested a 21-year-old man before taking him to Liverpool City Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm on victim and refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 24 November 2018).
