Man charged with affray, assault police, NSW

A man faced court today after allegedly assaulting an officer on the Central Coast overnight., NSW Police say

Just before 11pm (Saturday 4 November 2017), officers from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command attended a home on Wordsworth Avenue, Bateau Bay, after reports of people fighting.

Upon arrival, officers were confronted by an abusive man.

The man walked away from the home and as he passed a police vehicle, punched the windscreen.

Police approached to speak to the man, who turned around and punched the officer in the face.

With the assistance of other officers, the 20-year-old man was physically restrained and arrested.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with affray, use offensive language in/near public place/school, assault officer in execution of duty, and intimidate police officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Bail Court today (Sunday 5 November 2017), where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 15 November 2017.
