Man Charged With Drug, Firearm Offenses in Warialda

A man will face court today, charged with drug and firearm offences following a search at a residence in the state's north yesterday.

Officers attached to New England Police District conducted a firearms prohibition order compliance search at an address on Long Street, Warialda, about 2pm Thursday 5 March 2026.

During the search, officers allegedly found a 30-year-old man inside the home with a quantity of methylamphetamine on him. Police say he was attempting to hide inside a freezer when they entered.

Officers also allegedly located and seized an amount of prohibited drugs including methylamphetamine, cocaine, buprenorphine and cannabis, a sawn-off firearm and stock end, cash and a mobile phone.

The man was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with:

· Possess prohibited drug,

· Acquire etc firearm - subject to prohibition order,

· Possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority,

· Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order,

· Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority,

· Supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity,

· Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime greater than $5000, and

· Breach of bail.

He was refused bail to face Bail Division Court 5 today (Friday 6 March 2026).
