Man conveyed to hospital with serious injuries after Southbank crash

A man has been conveyed to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on the Kings Way off-ramp from the Westgate Freeway at Southbank earlier this morning.

The incident occurred when the driver of a Mazda SUV collided into the rear of a car which had pulled up on the shoulder of the off-ramp at 4.25am.

Police believe the male passenger from the stationary car was changing a tyre at the time of the collision.

The 27-year-old St Albans man was trapped between the car and a roadside barrier sustaining serious leg injuries.

The female driver of the car, who was standing on the roadway at the time of the collision, was not injured.

The 49-year-old South Yarra woman who was driving the Mazda SUV was also conveyed to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators are keen to speak to a male driver who stopped at the scene shortly after the collision.
