Man dies after house fire at Blacktown

A man has died, and a woman is in a critical condition following a house fire in Sydney's west this morning.

Just after 5am (Tuesday 18 October 2022), emergency services were called to Eltham Street, Blacktown, after reports of a house on fire.

A man and woman were pulled from the home by Fire and Rescue NSW. The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 60s.

The woman, aged in her 80s, has been taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW, and a crime scene was established by officers from Blacktown Police Area Command.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is underway and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
