Man dies in motorcycle crash at Walwa

Police are on the scene of a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist at Walwa in the state's north-east earlier today.

The crash happened on the Shelly-Walwa Road when the rider, a 58-year-old Wodonga man, failed to negotiate a right-hand bend just before 12.30pm.

After failing to negotiate the bend, the rider lost control of the bike, travelling across the road and coming to a stop inside a paddock.

The man, who was riding with a group of friends, died at the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established but investigators believe that speed may have been a contributing factor.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
