Man duped in CBD dodgy deception

A man with a cognitive impairment has been taken advantage off and fleeced of more than $1700 in a CBD deception.

Detectives have been told the victim was in Little Bourke Street when he was approached by a man who told him he had 'good fortune' on Sunday 23 April about 5.45pm.

The man then performed a magic trick and demanded payment for the performance.

The 33-year-old victim handed the man the small amount of cash he had on him before he withdrew money from a nearby bank, following demands from the offender.

The victim was pressured to withdraw more money after a second man approached and performed the same magic trick.

After several withdrawals from an ATM, and discussions between the trio for about 30 minutes, the victim was fleeced of just over $1700.

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and have released images and CCTV of the two men involved in the hope it will assist their investigation.

The first man is perceived to be of sub-continental appearance, about 50-60 years-old, with a medium build and about 182cm tall. He is described as having black short straight hair and was clean shaven apart from a moustache. He was wearing smart casual black pants and a sports jacket.
